Split Name

The Full Name Parsing tasks allow you to select a data field that contains an individual's full name and split out name elements.

Name Elements That Can be Isolated:

  • Honorific - e.g. Mr, Mrs or Madame
  • First name
  • Middle name
  • Surname
  • Suffix
  • Title - academic or professional
  • Multiple contact names

Select only the items that you would like to extract. For instance you can extract out the last name only. Or any other name element that you find useful.

Examples of parsing a contact name

Questions about parsing names

I have two contact names in one field. Can I split them out into separate columns?

Answer

Yes. If your table contains a field with multiple contact names, e.g. "John Smith and Patricia Jones", each full name can be parsed into separate contact columns. Have a look at Full Name Parsing Part 2 to see how easily this can be accomplished.
