The Duplications Grid is produced after a merge purge has run. After closing the grid the merge purge job had to be run again to see previous duplicates.
A new button has been added to the Sieve menu group to bring up previous duplicates without rerunning a job.
A Unique merge purge is based on matching a key field such as telephone number. You can use a person's name or address as an additional match criteria. But often you only want to use the key field and display additional information.
The Task Item Selector now allows you to add Extra Report fields.
To which you may assign any field from your table that you would like to see on the Duplication Listing.
The Duplication Listing Report will display these field values concatenated in the second column of the report.
Spelling error in description of Unique merge matches.
Default description that appeared in the Properties pane was given a value of "Unique key match".
Changed spelling to "Unique".
Working Directory not updated after merge purge has been added.
Once a merge purge task was added to a project and the Working Directory was subsequently changed, existing tasks were not updated with the new directory value.
This has been corrected.
Major version changed from 1 to 2.
A number of clients are still using the original Pre Post Office.
Version 1 only contained the Sieve - Merge Purge module. It was written in Visual C++ and used classic ADO. The data sources that it connected to were:
- SQL Server
- Visual FoxPro
- Microsoft Access
The most current version of Pre Post Office now looks like this.
This version was written using Microsoft Visual C# and a number of newer technologies. It now connects to more data sources:
- SQL Server
- Oracle DBMS
- Microsoft Excel
- Visual FoxPro
- Microsoft Access
And contains the following modules:
- Sieve - Merge Purge
- Scrubs - Data Cleanup, this is a free software module
- Easy Street - Address Correction and Verification.
Although both applications can be install at the same time and in the same directory. Clients and technical support were confused by which product was being discussed.
The original organization of the main Home page tab contained all modules. But as features and options were added to tasks, users with lower screen resolutions would find the main tab crowded and difficult to locate tasks.
Now Sieve, Scrubs and Easy Street have their own tabs and the toolbar is not over crowded.
Error when opening Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
When adding an Excel worksheet to a project the open file dialog was not displaying all available worksheets in the workbook.
This has now been corrected.
About button added to menu bar of application.
An About button and dialog have been added to show the current version of the application as well as to provide a link to our contact page for support.
It is located just under the Close button of the application.
